Same Day Crowns

Customized CEREC Restorations

Same-day crowns, also known as CEREC crowns, are a popular choice for patients who need to restore a damaged or decayed tooth quickly and efficiently. This modern technology allows your dentist to create a custom crown in a single visit, without the need for messy dental impressions, temporary crowns, or waiting weeks for a dental lab to fabricate your restoration.

No More Messy Dental Impressions

With same-day crowns, the process begins with a digital scan of your tooth, which is used to create a 3D model on a computer. Your dentist can then design and customize the crown to fit your specific needs and preferences. This information is sent to a special milling machine in the office, which creates your custom crown from a solid block of ceramic material. Depending on the material chosen – your dentist may need to spend time furnacing your restoration. Once your crown is finished, your dentist will bond it securely to your tooth, restoring its strength, function, and appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, same-day crowns are just as good, if not better, than lab-made crowns. With the advanced technology used in CEREC, same-day crowns are designed and created with precision and accuracy, ensuring a perfect fit and natural-looking result. In fact, studies have shown that same-day crowns have a high success rate and are just as durable as traditional lab-made crowns.

One study published in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry compared the clinical performance of same-day crowns to lab-made crowns and found that both had similar longevity and success rates. Another study published in the International Journal of Prosthodontics concluded that same-day crowns are a reliable and effective option for dental restorations.

So, if you’re in need of a dental crown, rest assured that same-day crowns are a viable and effective option that can provide long-lasting results.

The duration of the entire same-day crown process may vary, but it usually takes around 90 minutes to complete the in-chair procedure. The first part of the procedure involves taking a digital scan and preparing the tooth, which takes about 60 minutes. You will then have a break and return around an hour later for the placement of the crown, which typically takes 30 minutes. If you require multiple crowns in a single appointment, there may be longer break between the appointments. The size of the existing defect and position in the mouth may have an effect on the time taken.

We offer a range of materials for same-day crowns, including high-quality TGA approved Emax, zirconia, and hybrid ceramics. Our experienced dental team will work with you to determine the best material for your specific case, taking into account factors such as durability, aesthetics, and cost.
